Press Conference on Humanitarian Situation, Repercussions of US-Saudi Aggression, Al-Jawf

News – Yemen:  Al-Hazm Hospital and the Health and Human Rights Offices in Al-Jawf held a press conference on the humanitarian situation in the governorate and the consequences of the aggression during eight years of aggression and siege.

The governor of Al-Jawf, Faisal bin Haider, said, "The US-Saudi aggression has stopped, but the thousands of mines planted by his hands have a new victim every day, indicating that the aggression and its mercenaries caused the greatest humanitarian disaster in Yemen."

Bin Haidar confirmed that the remnants of the aggression of bombs and mines are still killing hundreds of citizens, including children and women, and causing dozens of people with disabilities because of these mines.

For his part, Dr. Arafat Al-Badawi, Deputy Director of the Health Office in Al-Jawf, said that the US-Saudi aggression targeted homes, schools, markets, and weddings, and as a result, 542 citizens were killed and wounded, including 155 wounded, 387 martyrs.

Al-Badawi stated that the most heinous crime committed by the aggression was in the year 2016, when a wedding was targeted in KhubWal-Sha`f, and 35 citizens, including women and infants, were killed.

Deputy Director of the Human Rights Office in the governorate, Yahya Hadhban, said, "During eight years of aggression, we have monitored hundreds of daily crimes and massacres against citizens, explaining that the number of civilian victims in Al-Jawf reached 980, including 426 martyrs and 554 wounded."

He pointed out that 1,320 houses were damaged by the aggression raids, of which 500 were completely destroyed, and 280 agricultural facilities and 27 educational and health facilities were damaged.
Hadhban called on everyone to participate in clearing the minefields scattered in all areas that were liberated from the aggression and its mercenaries.

For his part, the director of Al-Hazm Hospital Authority indicated that the hospital received, during the year 2022, 347 injured citizens, including 40 who died as a result of mines planted in Al-Jawf Governorate.
