News - World:  Russia launched a sharp attack on the West, describing them as "opportunists", regarding their goals and their dealings with the war on Yemen, stressing that stability in Yemen can only be achieved through direct dialogue with Sana'a.

In a speech during the UN Security Council session on the situation in Yemen, the First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations, Dmitry Polyanskiy, urged the international community to demonstrate “maximum restraint” and not allow any provocation — particularly a military one — which could lead to a catastrophe.  

Achieving stabilization is only possible through direct dialogue with the Ansar Allah movement, he said.

To this end, he called for an impartial negotiation process, taking into account the legitimate interest of all leading political forces.

He pointed out that the aim of the West is to ensure smooth export of Yemeni hydrocarbons onto the global market, he said, describing this opportunistic approach as “extremely dangerous for sustainable peace in the country”.  

Further, he highlighted the need to provide humanitarian assistance to all people in the country and lift any restriction on the delivery of food and medicine.
