News - Yemen: A mass rally took place in several governorates, on Monday to denounce the burning of a copy of the Holy Quran by the tools of the Zionist Jewish lobby in Sweden’s capital of Stockholm.

The demonstrators expressed their anger at the anti-Islam move by a notorious extremist politician to desecrate a copy of the Holy Quran. They deplored the silence of some Arab and Islamic regimes toward this crime.

A statement issued confirmed that the repeated crimes of burning the holy Quran fall within the plans of the Zionist lobby, which pursues historical enmity against the Islamic religion.

It pointed out that the US brought evil to the world through the influence of the Jewish lobby, recalling America's crimes in the world.

It held the government of Sweden fully responsible for the results of this heinous criminal act, calling on Muslims and free people in the world to march in anger against this criminal act, and for its strong response to insulting the Holy Qur’an. 

It also called for an investigation into this crime, considering that burning a copy of the Qur’an is an insult and shamelessness, and comes within a series of Western measures hostile to Islam.

Paludan, accompanied by police, went to an open public space in the southern Swedish city of Linkoping and reportedly placed the Muslim holy book down and tried to set it on fire while ignoring protests from onlookers.

Sweden's foreign minister Tobias Billström condemned hatred towards Muslims, but emphasized there were certain freedoms in his country.

"Islamophobic provocations are appalling," he tweeted. "Sweden has a far-reaching freedom of expression, but it does not imply that the Swedish Government, or myself, supports the opinions expressed."
