Rights Group Condemns Torture of Detainee Khaled Al-Amir in Prison of US-Saudi Mercenaries in Marib

News - Yemen: Eye of Humanity Center for Rights and Development condemned the torture of detainee Khaled Mohammad Salih al-Amir in the intelligence prison of the mercenaries of US-Saudi aggression in Marib Governorate.

The Center confirmed that after torturing Al-Amir, he was transferred to the Authority Hospital in Marib, after severe suffering from heart disease, diabetes and other diseases that he had been suffering from for three years inside a prison in Marib.

The Center added that the condition of the detainee was complicated by negligence and torture, and he suffered kidney failure. “He is in a clinically dead state, and no one knows at the present time the result of his critical health condition.”

It explained that the militias of the Islah Party affiliated with the aggression in Marib had arrested Brigadier General Khaled Al-Amir along with his son Mohammad and his nephew Bassem Al-Samit in the city of Marib in 2020.

The Center held the countries involved in aggression responsible for the crime and its predecessors, calling for investigation and criminal accountability of the leaders of the coalition and all those involved in these crimes.

"We appeal to the United Nations and the Security Council to assume their responsibilities and break their shameful silence and not shirk their duties."

As usual, when these militias want to settle scores with any anti-Islah leader in Marib, they accuse him of communicating or conspiring with Ansarullah in Sana'a. The Islah militia claimed that Al-Amir, who is in charge of the weapons stores in the Sahn Al-Jin camp, was a Hashemite from the Al-Amir's house in Marib and has relations with leaders from Ansarullah.

After more than a month of the disappearance of Brigadier General Khalid Al-Amir Al-Hushbi, who is from Al-Dhalea Governorate, it became clear to those militias that he had no connection with the Al-Amir’s house in Marib and he descended from the southern governorates. A committee was formed from the sons of Al-Hawashab and arrived in Marib to demand his release and an apology for the grave violation that happened to him.

However, the Islah Party militia did not back down from the crime committed against him without having any evidence, so they continued to forcibly hide him, his son, and his son-in-law, justifying that by having a relationship with Ansarullah.

Moreover, the mercenaries of the aggression made travelers on the public road in Marib a valuable prey for them. The closure of Sana'a Airport by the US-Saudi aggression posed a dilemma for the Yemeni society and a valuable opportunity for the jailers of Marib to arrest whoever they wanted from the travelers without any charges and committing serious violations against them.

Travelers are subjected to killing, torture and enforced disappearance in secret prisons in Marib, where all forms of violations are committed against passing civilian victims who have no fault other than that they are from the anti-aggression areas or from the honorable sons of Marib who rejected the aggression and occupation.

Hundreds of disappeared, some for two years and others for three years, in several secret prisons were taken from the public road while they were traveling, including merchants, expatriates, and students studying abroad. They did not know that their fate would be in the hands of the Islah jailers.

All this while the United Nations and international organizations concerned with the protection of prisoners are absent from exercising their role and unable to stop the violations of the aggression and its mercenaries against the prisoners, which makes them partners in these crimes.
