US-Saudi Mercenaries in Mahrah Deliberately Stop Export of Fruits, Vegetables Through Land Outlets

News - Yemen: The Saudi-appointed Ministry of Industry and Trade in Al-Mahrah deliberately stopped granting certificates of origin during Ramadan for vegetable and fruit exports through the eastern land ports.

The Yemeni Cooperative Council for Fruits and Vegetables Exporters denounced on Monday the decision of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the Saudi-backed government to stop exporting fruits and vegetables through land ports during Ramadan.

The Council indicated that the issuance of such random and ill-considered decisions serves the countries involved in aggression.

“This decision taken by the Saudi-backed government will strike the confidence and credibility of Yemeni exporters and cause the quantities intended for export to accumulate,” it added.

It explained that the mercenaries had stopped 200 refrigerators in the Shehen and Al-Wadea outlets since the beginning of April, which include varieties of fruits, which are subject to damage and double the material losses for the exporters.

The Council stressed that the justifications for issuing the aforementioned decision are flimsy and have nothing to do with reality.

“Our domestic agricultural production exceeds the local need, and the surplus is usually exported,” it added.

The Yemeni Cooperative Council for Fruits and Vegetables Exporters called on the relevant authorities and benefactors to find urgent solutions to stop this disastrous decision, which will cause catastrophic losses to farmers, exporters and the national economy.

The Saudi-backed government continues to take economic measures that directly affect the service and living conditions of the Yemeni People, especially in the southern regions, and exacerbate their disastrous suffering as a result of the US-Saudi siege and aggression.

Among those disastrous measures, the price of customs dollars for imported goods in foreign currency was raised by 50%, as it raised it from 500 to 750 riyals for the US dollar or its equivalent in foreign currencies.

It also raised the price of fuel in Marib, as it raised the price of a liter of petroleum from 175 riyals to 487.5 riyals per liter, an increase of 178.5%. Moreover, it indicated in its decision that the increase will continue after that gradually under the pretext of international oil prices.

The US-Saudi mercenaries also decided to raise the price of a domestic gas cylinder from 2,100 riyals to 3,000 riyals, a significant increase of 43% per cylinder.

In its third step, the Saudi-backed government intends to raise the tariff for electricity consumption and water consumption, and gradually raise the tariff on subscribers' bills.

These measures coincide with the collapse of the local currency in exchange with the dollar in the occupied governorates by 1,300 riyals per dollar, only about a month and a half after the seizure of the Special Drawing Rights of Yemen, and the adoption of a one billion dollar loan from the Arab Monetary Fund.

These steps and procedures reflect the extent of corruption pursued by the Council of Saudi-Emirati tools, which is documented in reports and figures, at the expense of the suffering of the Yemeni People, especially in the occupied areas, and is disastrous in all aspects of life.
