Saudi Arabia, backed by the US and its other regional allies, launched a devastating war on Yemen in March 2015. The eight years of war has killed hundreds of thousands of people and destroyed much of the country’s infrastructure. People of Yemen  are facing malnutrition, hunger, and famine, which have increased risks of disease and starvation.

Washington played a major role in the war on Yemen, and was an essential part in prolonging it. The US military intervention in Yemen, through three administrations, over the past eight years, has placed it firmly in the role of war makers.

The US has sold a total of at least $54.6 billion in military support to Saudi Arabia and the UAE, from 2015 through 2021, according to the US Government Accountability Office.

While President Biden claimed to end support for the war in early 2021, the Government Accountability Office report found that the distinction between "offensive" and "defensive" operations was never defined by state officials, and the current US administration has continued to support the coalition.

Military support for the war went beyond arms sales, as the United States provided logistical support over the years of the war, choosing targets from the command room, exchanging intelligence information, providing aircraft with air refueling, training pilots and ground forces, and providing spare parts, equipment and aircraft. , providing diplomatic cover for the war and the blockade, and even the secret deployment of US special forces at the Saudi-Yemeni border.
