US Ambassador Doubles Meetings in Southern Yemen to Prevent End of Aggression

Yemen: Significantly, Washington expanded its interventions in Yemen during this period through its ambassador to Yemen, Stephen Fagin, who intensified his meetings with the leaders of the pro-aggression government, the last of whom is the vice president of the so-called Presidential Council and the governor of Marib.

Despite being announced that meetings come to “discuss peace efforts and a political settlement in Yemen,” they have completely different goals. According to observers, they come within the framework of the counter-move taken by the Americans to undermine the Omani mediation efforts and thwart the efforts to end the aggression against Yemen.

This was evident in the directives of the US ambassador to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council during his meeting last Tuesday with the Vice-President of the Transitional Council, Faraj al-Bahsani, “to refuse to pay the salaries of all state employees from oil revenues.”

It seems that the American ambassador carried new American directives to Al-Arada, similar to the directives that he conveyed to Al-Bahsani, by refusing to pay the salaries of state employees from oil revenues, in addition to other issues related to the complexity of the peace process in Yemen.

The intensification of the American moves confirms that there is an American effort to influence the peace talks between Sana'a and Saudi Arabia, especially since many media have talked about an upcoming visit of the Omani delegation to Sana'a. It is expected that Sana'a will adhere to the issue of paying salary during this round of talks, especially with no progress in this matter and the coalition's insistence on delaying the payment of salaries from oil revenues.

Therefore, the failure of the next round of talks may be the goal of the recent meetings of the US ambassador with Al-Bahsani and Al-Aradah, which was preceded by the announcement of the government affiliated with the coalition refusing to pay salaries. This came according to a number of media reports after the pro-aggression government received directives from the US ambassador in this regard.
