News - Yemen: Rights Group condemned on Monday the kidnapping of a citizen and torturing him until he died in the mercenary-controlled areas in Taiz Governorate.

Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms stated in a statement that Abdul Rahman Thabet, from the Maqbana district, was suffering from a mental illness, and he was kidnapped and hidden for more than a month before he died as a result of torture.

It pointed out that the areas which are under the Saudi-mercenary control are witnessing an increase in the number of kidnappings and killings, the latest of which was the assassination of the head of the World Food Program team.

On Friday, unknown gunmen assassinated the head of the World Food Program team  in US-Saudi-occupied Taiz.

Media sources reported that armed individuals in Al-Turbah area, which is under the control of the US-Saudi mercenaries, fired at a UN car, targeting the head of the WFP team, Moayad Hamidi - Jordanian, with six bullets, which resulted in his death instantly.

A week ago, the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militia in Abyan governorate kidnapped and tortured a citizen to death.

Local sources reported that the citizen ,Muhammad Hassan, was kidnapped from a checkpoint affiliated with the STC in Abyan on July 9, while he was on his way back to Shabwa after spending the Eid vacation with his family.

The sources stated that the news of his death reached his family on Sunday, after he was subjected to severe torture, which led to his death by the US-Saudi mercenaries.

Activists confirmed on social media that the corpse of Muhammad Hassan was found recently in a hospital in Abyan with signs of torture on his body.

Aden and southern governorates are witnessing security chaos, and almost daily crimes, under the control of the forces of US-Saudi aggression and Saudi-Emirati occupation. In addition to kidnapping, bombings and clashes between militants fighting for influence, people in southern Yemen witness an increase in the number of assassinations involving military personnel, security leaders, religious and social figures.
