Sana’a Warns: US Presence in Red Sea Poses Threat to Most Important Shipping Lane in World

News - Yemen: Sana’a renewed on Monday its warning against the militarization of the Red Sea by the United States. It considered that the increase in tension threatens stability in the region and poses a threat to the most important shipping lane in the world.

"The aggressive war against Yemen has not yet ended, and the arrival of US forces at this sensitive time does not serve neither the region nor peace," Deputy Foreign Minister Hussein Al-Ezzi said in a statement to Al-Masirah.

He stressed that the safety of maritime navigation requires complete distancing from provocations.

For his part, Minister of Transport Abdul-Wahhab Al-Durra confirmed that "the US forces came to the Red Sea after a stage of failure”, considering that the efforts made by the US tools in the region represented by Saudi Arabia and the UAE have reached a dead end.

"When Saudi Arabia and the UAE were warned that we would use force, they went to bring the US to the Red Sea to protect them for fear of the Yemeni Armed Forces," said minister of Fisheries Muhammad al-Zubairi.

He stressed that the US is looking first to control the wealth of Yemen and the Bab al-Mandab.

In turn, Major General Muhammad al-Qadri, Commander of the Coastal Defense Brigade, indicated that the Navy monitors the US activities in the Red Sea and the Navy reconnaissance is present.

He stressed that for any provocation in Yemeni territorial waters, the naval forces and coastal defense will be present and strong.

The United States continues its escalatory steps in the region, which reinforce efforts to obstruct peace in Yemen. In early August, it announced the arrival of additional forces to the Red Sea, which represents a direct threat to the territorial waters, islands and Yemeni governorates, especially in light of the declared American insistence on continuing the aggression and blockade.

The US Fifth Fleet said in a statement that "more than 3,000 Marines and sailors arrived in the Middle East," noting that "amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 50) and dock landing ship USS Carter Hall (LSD 50) entered the Red Sea."
