News - Middle East: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is reportedly engaged in a campaign aimed at undermining Israeli military chiefs, with the intention of absolving himself of any responsibility for the defeat suffered on October 7, as reported by Israeli Channel 12, citing military sources.

The Israeli outlet reveals that Netanyahu is actively gathering reports and information that would support his claim to evade accountability for the intelligence and military failure.

During the aforementioned incident, the Palestinian Resistance, led by Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigades, executed a precise and extensive attack on Israeli military sites and settlements in Gaza’s Envelope. Operation Al-Aqsa Flood demonstrated the Resistance’s preparedness and exemplary tactics, resulting in the complete failure of the Israeli occupation forces’ Gaza Division.

In the aftermath of this shocking event, a significant majority of Israelis expressed their belief that Netanyahu should publicly acknowledge his responsibility for the intelligence and military failures that preceded the attack, according to an opinion poll conducted by Maariv newspaper.

Prominent officials, including the Occupation Army chief Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, Security Minister Yoav Gallant, Shin Bet head Ronen Bar, and cabinet members such as Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, have already taken responsibility for the disastrous shortcomings of the Israeli military.

The survey indicates that 80% of Israelis share the sentiment that Netanyahu should also publicly accept responsibility, a view that is echoed by 69% of those who voted for Netanyahu’s Likud party in last year’s election. Conversely, only 8% of settlers oppose this course of action.
