Egyptian Foreign Minister Calls for Halt to Zionist Aggression on Gaza, Affirms Regular Navigation in Red Sea

News - Middle East: The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, stated that the developments in the Red Sea are a direct result of the tension in the region due to what is happening in the Gaza Strip.

Shoukry's remarks came during a press conference with his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan, in which he called for the necessity of stopping the Zionist aggressive war on Gaza.

Egypt has previously refused to join the alliance to protect Israeli enemy ships heading to the occupied Palestinian ports and territories through the Red Sea, led by the US under the name "Guardian of Prosperity."

On January 12, the Chairman of the Suez Canal, Osama Rabie, affirmed that navigation in the canal is regular in both directions, and there is no truth to the speculation circulating in maritime circles about temporarily suspending navigation due to developments in the Bab el-Mandeb region.

In November, Yemen declared its intention to target all Israeli-affiliated commercial and military ships passing through the Red Sea, vowing to persist until the genocide against the people of Gaza is completely halted.

Sana'a repeatedly emphasizes its commitment to the security of navigation in the Red Sea for all ships except Israeli and American ones or those heading to the occupied ports in Palestine until the aggression on Gaza ceases. It warns Washington against militarizing the Red Sea after announcing the establishment of a maritime "alliance" aimed at protecting Israel.

On January 16, the head of the National Delegation, Mohammed Abdulsalam, refuted claims of increased risks in the Red Sea, following the announcement by several shipping companies about suspending their operations in the region.

Abdulsalam clarified in a post on his X account that what some shipping companies declare regarding suspending their operations, citing increased risks in the Red Sea, is an inaccurate stance.

He added that hundreds of ships cross the Bab el-Mandeb Strait daily, however, the positions of some companies align with malicious American propaganda.

Abdulsalam emphasized that Yemen does not prohibit any ship from crossing the Red Sea, except those associated with the criminal Zionist enemy or those heading to its ports in occupied Palestine.
