The 22nd of the solar calendar month of Bahman, which corresponds with February 11, is observed each year with tremendous patriotic fervor across Iran.
On this day, 45 years ago, the US-backed Pahlavi regime was overthrown in a popular uprising that also ended the meddling of foreign hegemonic powers in Iran’s internal affairs.
On Sunday, the Islamic Republic of Iran celebrated the 45th anniversary of the Revolution with massive rallies in the capital, Tehran, and across all provinces. These demonstrations spanned over 1,400 cities and towns, as well as 35,000 villages nationwide.
