Continuous Anger in Occupied Lahij Condemning Economic and Living Conditions Deterioration

News - Yemen: Angry protests persist in the occupied southern provinces due to the worsening economic and living conditions and the severe devaluation of the national currency against other foreign currencies.

Media outlets reported on Sunday that hundreds of residents from the Khawr Amira area in the Al-Ararah district of occupied Lahij province staged a protest, joined by leaders and members of the Revolutionary Movement Council, influential figures, and social personalities. This demonstration aimed to condemn the financial and administrative corruption of the Saudi-backed government and the deterioration of living standards, economic conditions, and public services.

Protesters denounced the unprecedented collapse of the national currency in the occupied provinces, which has led to increased prices of goods and food items as the holy month of Ramadan approaches. This dire situation has significantly exacerbated the suffering of citizens, making it difficult for them to afford basic necessities.

The residents of the Al-Ararah district in Lahij attributed the economic downturn and the worsening plight of citizens to the US-Saudi aggression, the Saudi-Emirati occupation, the Saudi-backed government, and the so-called Transitional Council. They warned of further escalation and vowed to stage a popular uprising if the economic collapse persists and if urgent and substantial economic reforms are not implemented.

The economic collapse has had a severe impact on the living conditions of citizens in the occupied southern provinces, to the extent that the Saudi-backed government is unable to fulfill its obligation to pay teachers' salaries. This dire situation underscores the urgent need for comprehensive economic reforms and interventions to address the currency crisis and alleviate its impact on the population.
