Head of UN Mission to Support Hodeidah Agreement: No Military Signs in the Ports of Hodeidah

News - Yemen: The head of the United Nations mission to support the Hodeidah agreement, General Michael Berry, confirmed the absence of weapons in the ports of Hodeidah as they continue to provide essential humanitarian services despite recent developments in the Red Sea.

"Our field teams confirm the absence of any military signs in the port of Ras Isa, contrary to some media claims," General Beary stated, during a meeting gathering the National Team in the Coordination Committee for Redeployment with the Mission to Support the Hodeidah Agreement on Tuesday.

"We have witnessed efforts by the National Salvation Government to achieve peace in Yemen through all the efforts it offers to the United Nations," he added.

In the past few weeks, the US-British aggression has targeted different areas in Hodeidah with airstrikes, including the targeting of the Ras Isa area in Al-Salif district last Saturday.

The US-UK aggressive airstrikes on Yemen continue in clear violation of Yemeni sovereignty, as an attempt to deter Yemen from its decision to prevent Israeli ships from passing through the Red Sea in support of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, who are facing a genocidal war by the savage Zionist entity.

Yemenis have openly declared their support for Palestine's struggle against Zionist occupation since the regime launched a devastating war on Gaza on October 7, following the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm by Palestinian resistance movements.

The Yemeni Armed Forces have declared that they will not cease retaliatory strikes. The maritime attacks have compelled major shipping and oil companies to suspend their voyages to the ports of the Zionist enemy.

Sana'a  Advocates Opening All Roads for People's Interests

Meanwhile, the head of the National Team in the Redeployment Committee, Major General Ali Al-Mushki, stated: "We support the opening of all roads for the people's interests. Peace is not in the interest of mercenaries because they thrive on the suffering of our people and obstruct our efforts to end the aggression and address its effects."

Al-Mushki emphasized that 85 percent of the population lives under the National Salvation Government, and road closures are an aggressive policy aimed at besieging them.

He stressed that opening roads should be through bilateral meetings and guarantees, not through media propaganda that does not serve the interests of the people.

"We support the opening of all roads for the people's interests and not selective roads for media propaganda purposes only, as mercenaries do," he added. "We have opened two roads in Hodeidah under the supervision of the United Nations, and their outlets have been occupied by Emirati mercenaries."

For his part, Brigadier Mohammed Al-Qadri, member of the National Team in the Disengagement Coordination Committee, said, "We are waiting for the UN mission to implement rapid impact projects in the southern directorates as they have begun in other areas."

Brigadier Al-Qadri pointed out that mines and the remnants of war aggression kill people almost daily, and the United Nations has not provided anything to mine clearance teams to this day.

"We are for peace, addressing the effects of aggression, opening roads, and normalizing life in all areas of Yemen," he added.

Taiz governorate has endured a stifling military blockade for nine years, despite numerous unilateral initiatives from Sana'a aimed at opening roads. However, all twelve initiatives presented by the political leadership in Sana'a were rejected by coalition mercenaries. The adversaries' focus has been either to break the deadlock in the confrontation or maintain the status quo, leaving the citizens' plight unresolved.

The governor of Taiz has emphasized that the Saudi-backed side shows no interest in alleviating citizens' suffering or building trust. He highlighted that the bombing of roads, bridges, schools, and healthcare facilities directly exacerbates the citizens' hardships.

Since the UN ceasefire came into effect on April 2nd, dozens of civilians in Taiz have been killed or injured by Saudi mercenaries' attacks.
