US Senate Majority Leader Calls on Israel to Correct Course for Lasting Peace
News - Middle East: Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, the highest-ranking Jewish elected official in the US, said that it is up to Israel to correct course to achieve lasting peace.
"I call on all negotiating parties to do everything possible to reach a ceasefire and release detainees," he said.
Schumer considered that the Israeli Finance Minister, and the National Security Advisor, escalated tension and violence, emphasizing that the expansion of settlements makes a two-state solution impossible.
The Democratic majority leader said that the enemy's prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, is a major obstacle to peace and has often succumbed to the demands of extremists.
Since the start of the offensive, the Tel Aviv regime has killed more than 31,000 Palestinians and injured nearly 72,000 others.
Thousands more are also missing and presumed dead under the rubble in Gaza.
