Human Rights Report Exposes Yemen's 9-Year Aggression and Blockade's Toll on Women and Children

News - Yemen: Entesaf Organization for Women and Children's Rights held a press conference titled "9 Years of Atrocity, Aggression Continues," unveiling a damning human rights report documenting grave violations against women and children during the aggression and blockade from March 26, 2015, to March 25, 2024.

Yemen's Minister of Human Rights Ali Al-Dailami praised Entesaf Organization's dedication to women's issues, urging broader action from human rights groups to address the deliberate targeting of women.

He pointed out the killings and genocides suffered by women in Yemen and Palestine, accompanied by international silence, emphasizing that women and their essential issues are not of interest to the United Nations and the international community.

He affirmed that the Western project for women is extremely dangerous, seeking to deprive them of scientific and social influence and exploiting them through human trafficking, distancing them from anything that empowers them. He referred to the status of women in Islam and the suspicious calls and lies promoted by the West under the pretense of liberating women.

On her part, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Akhlaq Al-Shami, hailed Yemeni women's resilience amid nine years of aggression, underscoring their pivotal role in upholding families and nurturing children amidst relentless attacks.

Al-Shami highlighted the conditions of children and women and their suffering due to the aggression and blockade and their repercussions, stating that the Yemeni people, despite all of that, managed to write a remarkable epic of patience, resilience, sacrifice, dedication, and valor. They are now entering their tenth year of steadfastness, victory, stability, and unwavering faith in God and His support.

In turn,  the official of the Legal and Human Rights Department at Ansarullah's Political Office, Abdulwahab Al-Mahbashi, stressed the need to document aggression atrocities, revealing the true threat to Arab national security from those colluding with the Zionist entity.

"After nine years, it has become clear who defends Arab national security and who threatens Arab national security," he stated. "It has become evident that those who have abandoned the Arab identity lack any true connection to Arabness. They have become agents for the Zionist entity and tools to erode what remains of Arab identity." He pointed out that claims of Arabness have become a guise used by Zionism to undermine the Arab and Islamic world.

The Head of Entesaf Organization, Sumaia Al-Taifi, affirmed that the organization has meticulously documented thousands of airstrikes resulting in the deaths of numerous civilian victims, particularly women and children. Many of these airstrikes deliberately targeted civilian areas such as neighborhoods, markets, wedding halls, mourning gatherings, displacement camps, and public roads. These actions flagrantly violate international humanitarian law and the laws of war, constituting war crimes that necessitate international legal prosecution for all involved parties, whether individuals or groups.

The report shed light on the grave violations against women and children during the aggression, including severe sexual violations in occupied areas, along with the psychological and social impacts. It also addressed issues such as healthcare and education deprivation, food insecurity, the spread of diseases, and deteriorating living conditions due to salary cuts, leading to increased child labor. Additionally, children are recruited in occupied areas.

Al-Taifi urged the United Nations to halt the aggression and blockade and to address the issue of Yemen's aggression seriously, impartially, and professionally, under international laws and agreements.

The organization's report official, Faten Sharaf Al-Din, presented a report titled "9 Years of Criminality, and the Aggression Continues," revealing that the victims of the aggression exceeded 50,025 civilians killed or injured.

The report indicated that fatalities reached 18,381, including 4,123 children and 2,486 women, while injuries numbered 31,644, including 4,992 children and 3,057 women.

It was reported that the aggressor's aircraft conducted 2,932 cluster bombings over the past nine years, resulting in the deaths of approximately 9,000 civilians, predominantly women and children. Moreover, over 3,187,630 American, British, Pakistani, and Brazilian cluster munitions were used in most provinces.

The report emphasized that the aggression forces committed over 800 violations on the western coast, primarily targeting children and women, with cases including kidnapping and rape.

The recommendations issued by the conference called for an immediate cessation of the unjust aggression and blockade on Yemen in all its forms. It demanded that the United Nations revoke the decision to remove the aggression coalition from the list of child killers and abusers, as they continue to perpetrate massacres against women and children in Yemen.

The recommendations urged all human rights, legal, and media organizations to spotlight the violations and crimes committed against civilians, particularly women and children, and expose them to international public opinion, aiming to hold the perpetrators accountable and bring them to justice.

The recommendations called for the establishment of an independent international fact-finding committee to investigate all crimes and violations committed since the onset of the aggression in March 2015. They urged people worldwide to stand with the Yemeni and Palestinian peoples in exposing the crimes of the United States, Britain, the Zionist entity, Western countries, and those affiliated with the Muslim nation.

They also appealed to the global community and the Muslim nation not to forget the bloodshed in Yemen and Palestine and to regard these crimes as motivation for liberation from subjugation and external control. They demanded that all countries engaging in normalization with the Zionist entity cease all forms of normalization.
