April 6th, Over 9 Years: US-Saudi Aggression Continues to Target Civilians, Hospitals

Yemen: April 6th during nine years of relentless US-Saudi aggression and blockade on Yemen was a day filled not with ordinary events but with sorrow, pain, tragedies, and heinous crimes.

On this fateful day, US-Saudi aggression aircraft violated Yemeni skies, launching savage airstrikes on the home of Saleh Shaalan, a Yemeni citizen, without warning, in the Beit Rijal area of Bani Matar district in Sana'a governorate. This airstrike resulted in the tragic deaths of three children and three women, with eight others sustaining injuries. Livestock was also killed or wounded in what can only be described as a genocidal act, sparing neither humans, stones, nor animals, shedding blood, and extinguishing all signs of life on Yemeni soil.

The airstrike obliterated the house, reducing it to rubble and debris. Fragments, along with ceilings and stones, scattered, shattering the hopes and dreams of children before the criminal airstrikes ruthlessly crushed them.

Dust mingled with souls, bodies, and burning furniture, filling the air with sounds of agony and despair emanating from beneath the rubble.

Those fortunate enough to survive the attack were left wounded and homeless, forced to seek refuge with neighbors in mountain caves and beneath large rocks, fearing further airstrikes on their homes.

Hajj Shaalan, returning from work, was met with the horror of the scene. He stood in disbelief before the devastation—no house, no family. Everything he held dear was lost in a moment dictated by the US-Saudi enemy without warning. Amidst the chaos, he cried out, "Where are my children? Where is my wife?"

His elderly brother, also devastated, joined him at the rubble, crying out for his own family. Their pleas went unanswered as US-Saudi aggression airstrikes resumed, forcing everyone to flee to nearby mountains, fearing further attacks.

An elderly woman, clutching her prayer beads, raised her hands to the sky, praying for revenge against the criminals and their swift punishment.

A five-year-old girl, injured but alive, lay on a hospital bed, her eyes filled with terror, beside her unconscious younger brother and a woman drenched in blood. Despite their ordeal, they found solace in repeating, "Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs."

Mohammed Saleh Shaalan, wounded in the attack, recounted his harrowing experience, searching for his family amidst the chaos.

This scene, unfolding nearly nine years since the start of aggression on Yemen, serves as a grim reminder of the profound impact of such crimes on the resilient Yemeni people. Despite facing the largest global alliance in the history of wars, Yemenis continue to resist, mobilize, and unite, showcasing legendary resilience and determination in the face of adversity.

April 6, 2015: Genocide in Sa'adah

On April 6, 2015, during the first year of the US-Saudi aggression on Yemen, tragedy struck the family of citizen Hussein Dagfal in the Al-Aanad area of Sahar district, Sa'adah province. While they slept peacefully under the shelter of their home, enemy aircraft lurked above, monitoring their every breath. In a cruel moment, these aircraft unleashed a barrage of missiles and bombs upon their home, transforming their peaceful slumber into eternal rest in the gardens of the martyrs.

Nine martyrs, mostly women and children, lost their lives in this horrific airstrike, leaving behind only one wounded child, destined to face the world as an orphan.

As the clock struck one after midnight, they slept, their dreams and aspirations still alive, unaware of the impending tragedy that would shatter their lives and the hearts of their families, neighbors, and loved ones. Efforts to rescue them yielded only one survivor amidst the rubble, a child whose injuries spoke of the terror inflicted upon them.

Under the cover of darkness and the weight of injustice, rescuers worked tirelessly to uncover the lifeless bodies buried beneath the rubble of what was once the Dagfal family's home. With each body recovered, the magnitude of the tragedy became more apparent, fueling the rescuers' resolve to defend their dignity, sovereignty, and people on the front lines of the struggle.

The massacre claimed the lives of fathers, grandfathers, grandsons, sisters, and brothers, entombing them in a mass grave beneath the roof of their own home. Yet, even in death, their spirit of freedom, valor, and resistance lives on, a testament to the unwavering resilience and principles of the Yemeni people.

As the sun rose on the following day, it illuminated the devastating aftermath of the airstrike, laying bare the stark reality of the genocide perpetrated against innocent civilians. Their bodies, lined up for transport, bore witness to the heinous crimes committed in the name of aggression and oppression.

April 6, 2015: Aggression Targets Communications Network in Sa'adah

Following the horrific genocide against a family and other crimes on April 6, 2015, the US-Saudi aggression aimed to isolate Sa'adah by targeting its communications network on Ben Urayj Mountain in the Al-Shaaf area of the Saqeen district. Five airstrikes were conducted, reflecting the aggression's strategic plan to control and humiliate Yemen. Despite the destruction of the power generator and network components, the Yemeni people's resilience has endured, thwarting the enemy's attempts at isolation.

April 6, 2015: Aggression Strikes Civilian Infrastructure in Al-Malahiz, Sa'adah

On the same day, the US-Saudi aggression targeted civilian infrastructure in Al-Malahiz, Sa'adah. Four airstrikes hit a household gas station, Al-Aqsa Medical Clinic, and the communications network. These deliberate attacks, part of the aggression's agenda, aimed to cripple essential services and pave the way for further atrocities. Despite the destruction, the Yemeni people's spirit of resistance remains unbroken, defying attempts to deprive them of their basic necessities and rights.

April 6, 2020: Civilian Killed and Injured in Aggression Artillery Shelling on Hodeidah Residential Area

On April 6, 2020, during the sixth year of the ongoing US-Saudi aggression and siege on Yemen, the 7th of July neighborhood in the city of Hodeidah faced intense artillery shelling by the aggression mercenaries. One of the shells claimed the life of a citizen named Ali, tearing his limbs apart, leaving behind scattered fragments beside what remained of his body and head.

Witnesses described Ali's brother screaming as he hovered near the body, calling for help, and gathering what was left in the neighborhood to lift Ali's body and transport it to the morgue.

Ali's brother, with a heavy heart and tears streaming down his cheeks, recounted the events: "On the morning of April 6, we were together at home exchanging conversation as usual. Moments later, Ali went to the nearby grocery store. We heard the sound of shells, artillery, and gunfire targeting the neighborhood. As soon as I went out to check on my brother, I found him lying on the ground, his body torn apart. His martyrdom is a blessing from Allah. We vow to avenge his death from the forces of aggression and their hypocritical mercenaries. His blood will not be in vain."

The aggressive shelling also caused damage to several homes, cars, and water tanks of the citizens, instilling terror and fear in the minds of those who remained in the area.

April 6, 2020: Six Civilians, Including Women, Injured in US-Saudi Mercenaries' Shelling of Homes in Hodeidah

On April 6, 2020, the aggression mercenaries persisted in their daily mission, assigned and enlisted in service to their masters for the past six years, by shelling residential neighborhoods and citizens' homes in the eastern Al-Salakhana neighborhood of the Al-Hali district in Hodeidah, along with various other neighborhoods.

Monday morning caught the residents off guard, as they were not expecting the aggression mercenaries to shell them despite hearing about dialogues, consultations, and agreements calling for a ceasefire in Hodeidah since 2018. However, they found only empty promises in the media, as their homes became traps for shells of imminent death.

The destruction of homes, panic among the people, and fear among women and children ensued, with shrapnel penetrating the rooms along with the rubble, resulting in injuries to three women and a man.

An elderly man recounted, "We were having breakfast together when suddenly the ceiling and dust enveloped us, and blood flowed from my wife and two of my daughters-in-law, one of whom is pregnant, had to be rushed to the intensive care unit."

One of the survivors of the massacre questioned, "Where is the United Nations? Why didn't they stop the aggression? Is the life of the Yemeni people so cheap?"

She continued, "Regardless, targeting homes is unjust." This was her message, yet it fell on deaf ears in the face of an international community dominated by villains and agents of evil, comprised of tyrants and oppressors who persist in killing, occupying peoples, and plundering their resources.

The US-Saudi mercenaries' shelling of the eastern neighborhood in the Al-Salakhana area of the Al-Hali district in Hodeidah resulted in six wounded, including three women, one of whom is pregnant, and the destruction of several homes.
