The US condemned the Central Bank of Sanaa's issuance of this currency, affirming its support for what it termed "the role of the Central Bank in Aden in maintaining banking stability."
America's position on the currency issuance, aligned with the coalition government's stance, confirms its backing of the coalition's attempts to complicate the economic situation in Yemen through irresponsible decisions.
One recent decision includes the Central Bank of Aden's directive, compelling all commercial banks, Islamic banks, and local and foreign microfinance banks operating in Yemen to relocate their headquarters from Sanaa to Aden within sixty days. This was preceded by a decision to ban transfers between areas under the occupation and areas under Sanaa's authority.
Sinister Objectives
Economic experts view the coalition government's move to relocate bank headquarters to Aden as an attempt to firstly seize these banks' deposits through the Central Bank of Aden.
Additionally, it aims to undermine the local currency in areas under Sanaa's control, which has maintained its value in recent years due to the Central Bank in Sanaa's oversight over private banks and exchange companies.
This control has now shifted to the ineffective Central Bank of Aden, unable to halt the collapse of the local currency in coalition-controlled areas due to its flawed monetary policies since the government's relocation from Sanaa to Aden in 2016. Essentially, this decision indicates that the pro-aggression government is trying to dismantle what remains of Yemen's economy.
Pressure Attempts to Abandon Gaza
Analysts said that the timing of these decisions confirms America's support for the economic escalation undertaken by the coalition government, within its attempts to pressure Sanaa into abandoning its support for Gaza.
There is substantial evidence of significant hostile American moves towards Sanaa, aiming to provoke coalition countries into a new confrontation with Sanaa after Washington's military failure to curb Sanaa's military capabilities and its operations targeting the Israeli entity and its associated vessels in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, which have recently expanded to the Indian Ocean. In light of Sanaa's pledge to enhance these capabilities to reach areas its enemies did not anticipate.
Expected Impacts on Negotiations
Undoubtedly, the pro-aggression government's attempts to complicate the economic situation will affect the ongoing negotiations between Sanaa and the Saudi-led coalition.
These hostile actions will create new complications hindering the resolution of the humanitarian crisis, which Sanaa insists must be resolved before discussing any peace in Yemen. These hostile steps may lead to a halt in the negotiation process, in which case America, along with the coalition, would be responsible for sabotaging peace in Yemen in service of the Israeli entity.
