Yemen: For over nine years, the US-Saudi aggression has aggressively targeted various aspects of life in Yemen, committing egregious crimes across several provinces of the republic. The actions of the US-Saudi aggression are not confined to the killing of innocent civilians but also extend to the destruction of public and private properties, agricultural fields, and livestock, as part of a systematic campaign directed by the Western US administration.

On April 16th of each year for the past nine years, the coalition has specifically targeted the properties and livelihoods of Yemeni citizens, both public and private, to eradicate all that benefits and sustains the ordinary Yemeni citizen.

Key incidents from this day include:

April 16, 2015: Bombing of Abu Nashtan Educational Center in Arhab District

At eleven o'clock at night on April 16, 2015, the tranquility of the Arhab District in Sana'a was shattered by the sounds of massive explosions as US-Saudi aggression planes bombed the Abu Nashtan Educational Center, which includes a mosque and buildings for Quranic studies. Nearby residences were also hit.

The buildings of the educational center were reduced to rubble, and copies of the Quran inside were destroyed. Sheikh Shamsan Abu Nashtan, a local sheikh and eyewitness, was present during the raids. He expressed that the targeting of the mosque and educational center, as well as the destruction of homes of learning, is part of an overarching assault on the nation’s infrastructure, achievements, and symbols of dignity, freedom, and honor.

A student who was at the center during the attack recounted, "At eleven o'clock at night while preparing for the Friday sermon with a colleague, we were suddenly shocked by a massive explosion. A missile lifted us into the air and slammed us back to the ground; we miraculously survived the first explosion thanks to Allah’s mercy." He added that the long-standing targeting, fulfilled through aggression, aimed to destroy physical structures but not the resolve and will of the people.

The US-Saudi aggression employed internationally banned bombs in the attack on the educational center, as evidenced by footage and eyewitness accounts from the time of the attack in the Umrah area of Arhab District. The footage highlighted extensive destruction to mosques, showing a complete disregard for their sanctity, and also damaged several nearby homes and vehicles in this densely populated area. Locals are left questioning the motives behind the coalition’s use of such devastating and prohibited weapons to target places of worship and centers for Quranic teaching.

The bombings are emblematic of a comprehensive strategy of total war that spares neither infrastructure nor civilians.
 

US-Saudi Aggression Targets Main Road in Haydan, Sa'adah, Causing Damage to Nearby Houses

On this same day in a previous year, the US-Saudi aggression targeted the main road in the Haydan district of Sa'adah governorate. This attack damaged several nearby houses and caused widespread panic among the local population.

This road is one of many that has been consistently targeted by aggression over the years. Thousands of roads, especially those connecting provinces and districts, including bridges, have been deliberately targeted to disrupt the movement of citizens.

April 16, 2016: Bombing of Shops and Popular Market in Al-Jawf

On this day in 2016, mercenaries of the aggression bombed homes and commercial shops in the Monday market of Al Maton district, Al Jawf governorate.

This attack resulted in the death of one citizen and injuries to several others who were present in the market, trying to earn a living to support their families and children.

Witnesses at the market said, "We were in the Monday market, only to be suddenly shocked by a Katyusha rocket fired by the aggression's mercenaries. This led to the death of a citizen and injuries to other defenseless citizens who were not affiliated with any party."

April 16, 2020: Targeting of Rock Crusher in Hamdan

On this day in 2020, the US-Saudi aggression targeted a rock crusher in Hamdan district, Sana'a governorate, causing severe damage.

The owner of the equipment stated, "We were peacefully carrying out our usual work in stone cutting, along with a group of workers, when we were shocked by rockets from the raids hitting the workers and damaging the engines and work equipment, with no justification for this treacherous attack."

This attack completely destroyed the rock crusher and severely wounded several workers, raising fears about their livelihoods after the destruction which resulted in significant material losses, thereby fulfilling the true objectives of this aggression in targeting stones, trees, and humans in a comprehensive genocide that spared no one.

Additional Targeting on the Same Day: Damage to a Citizen's Farm in Sana'a Governorate

On this same day, the US-Saudi aggression also targeted a citizen's farm in Sana'a governorate, causing damage to it and the neighboring houses.

The agricultural lands of farmers were not spared from the raids of the US-Saudi aggression, which blatantly aimed to destroy crops and livestock in full view of the world, amid a suspicious international and global silence.
