April 23 Over 9 Years: 109 Casualties in Bombing of Beni Qais Wedding and Ibb Community College

Yemen: April 23rd marks one of the bloodiest days of the US-Saudi aggression over the past nine years. On this day, Yemenis experienced immense suffering due to the relentless bombardment by the aggression, targeting various aspects of life including weddings, markets, and citizens' homes.

Here's a recap of the most significant atrocities committed on this day over the past nine years:

April 23, 2015: Tragedy Strikes as Aggression Bombs Community College in Ibb

On April 23, 2015, the US-Saudi aggression continued its series of crimes against civilians and civilian infrastructure, with its aircraft targeting the Community College building, student housing, and nearby homes in Yareem District of Ibb Governorate.

The aggression's aircraft unleashed their destructive payloads on the college buildings and residential areas, causing panic and forcing residents to flee their homes in haste, fearing for their lives amidst the onslaught.

The relentless airstrikes persisted until noon, leaving locals to witness the destruction of their homes and the loss of loved ones. Elderly residents recounted the harrowing scenes of airstrikes targeting multiple homes, resulting in casualties among their family members.

Amidst the chaos, families fled to the mountains and caves for safety, as columns of smoke and dust filled the sky. The once vibrant community was now a scene of devastation, with homes, offices, and lecture halls reduced to rubble.

The aggression's raids claimed the lives of three civilians and left seven others, including children and women, injured. The Community College, along with its annexes and student housing, lay in ruins, compounding the anguish of the residents and triggering a mass displacement towards the nearby mountains.

The day marked a tragic loss for the people of Yareem, who found themselves homeless and bereft of their possessions. Meanwhile, students enrolled in the Community College were left shattered, with their hopes and dreams for the future dashed amidst the ruins of their educational institution.

April 23, 2018: Tragedy Strikes with 88 Lives Lost in Beni Qais Wedding Massacre in Hajjah

On April 23, 2018, the skies of Yemen bore witness to a heinous act as aircraft from the aggressors loomed overhead, meticulously monitoring the gathering below. Among the innocent guests, mercenaries disguised their malevolence amidst the celebration, gathering intelligence to relay to their superiors in Riyadh, and ultimately, to the highest echelons of power in the White House and Tel Aviv.

What was the occasion? What became the target? It was a joyous wedding celebration at the residence of citizen Jaafar Masabi, nestled in the village of Ar Riqqah, within the Beni Qais district of Hajjah Governorate. The night began with customary revelry—music, dance, and laughter echoing through the air—as guests partook in traditional Yemeni festivities.

Yet, from the summit of aggression, commands were issued: "Unleash the most severe onslaught." In their eyes, this joyous gathering was a strategic civilian target, aligning with their sinister agenda to obliterate the Yemeni people and bend them to their will.

With the push of a button, the scene was transformed from jubilation to anguish. Guests became victims, their bodies and limbs tossed amidst a maelstrom of destruction and despair. Amidst the chaos, cries for help, the wails of women and children, and the agonizing screams of the injured pierced the air, drowned out only by the deafening roar of explosions and the crackling flames of fire.

It was a cataclysmic horror, an event so horrifying it defied comprehension. Joy morphed into mourning, etching itself into the annals of aggression's atrocities as one of the darkest chapters in its history—second only to the massacre at Sanban.

The scenes were beyond comprehension—bodies strewn amidst rubble, limbs hanging from trees, blood-soaked remnants scattered in every direction. Amidst the relentless barrage of airstrikes, no one was spared, not even the rescuers who rushed to aid the wounded. It was a nightmare in Beni Qais, where approaching the scene meant facing the wrath of aggression's warplanes.

A wedding that was meant to be a celebration of love and unity was transformed into a scene of unimaginable tragedy. For the guests, the doors of life were slammed shut, and the promise of a bright future was stantly snuffed out.

One heart-wrenching image remains etched in memory—a child, barely old enough to understand the concept of loss, clinging desperately to his father's lifeless body. As paramedics attempted to intervene, he refused to let go, his cries of "Dad, Dad... don't take my dad, bury me with him" echoing through the devastation.

In the aftermath, chaos reigned as bodies were collected, identities blurred amidst the carnage. In a massacre that claimed the lives of 33 innocent civilians and left 55 others wounded, a rural village and its inhabitants were decimated, their fate sealed by the merciless aggression.

The Beni Qais massacre stands as a testament to the brutality of the US-Saudi aggression on Yemen—a genocide that has gone unchecked for nine long years. It is a violation of every covenant, treaty, and law—divine, international, and humanitarian. Yet, the world remains complicit, the United Nations silent in the face of unspeakable horrors.

The cry of Beni Qais echoes through the corridors of power, demanding justice and accountability. It is a plea to protect the values of humanity—to hold the perpetrators of aggression accountable before the International Criminal Court. For those who remain silent, who turn a blind eye to the atrocities committed by America and Israel and their allies—the question remains: which of these crimes will you deny, and which will you justify?
