Despite Suppression of pro-Palestine Protestors, Hunger Strikes and Protests in US, German Universities Continue

News - World: Students at Princeton University in New Jersey, USA, began a hunger strike, Friday, in solidarity with Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip who have been enduring continuous Israeli aggression for the past 7 months.

The strike was announced in a press release issued by members of the Palestine Solidarity Camp at Princeton University.

In their statement, the students said that they had begun a hunger strike in solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza who are suffering under the ongoing Zionist blockade, and that the decision to strike comes in response to the US administration's refusal to meet their demands to withdraw its support for Israel.

The statement cited United Nations data showing that Gaza hosts the largest number of people facing famine at a catastrophic level, and that dozens in Gaza were forced during Ramadan to use animal feed to make bread and prepare breakfast.

Since April 18th, American universities have witnessed a student movement supporting Gaza against the Israeli war, which later spread to universities in other countries, including France, Britain, Germany, Canada, India, and Japan.

American media outlets revealed that the US government deployed groups of thugs to attack students who were in solidarity with Gaza in American universities. An investigation by the American newspaper The New York Times confirmed that pro-Palestinian protestors at the University of California were subjected to violent attacks by "groups" last night.

The newspaper added that the violence of the groups that attacked students at the University of California who were in solidarity with Gaza continued for hours without police intervention.

At least 30 American universities have witnessed protests in support of Palestinians, and Fox News reported that the total number of detainees in the past two weeks is approaching 2000.

Meanwhile, universities in the United States have begun to yield to some demands of protesting students in support of Palestine after sit-ins that lasted for several days.

CNN reported that the University of California, Riverside reached an agreement with the protesters to end their sit-in on Saturday evening, stating that "the agreement includes the university administration's commitment to transparency and disclosure of investments and academic cooperation programs with foreign entities."

In this context, NBC reported that the University of Vermont canceled a speech by the US Ambassador to the United Nations, Thomas Greenfield, in response to the demands of protesting students.

The Zionist enemy has been waging a destructive war in the Gaza Strip since October 7th with American and Western support, which has so far resulted in approximately 112,000 casualties, mostly children and women, leading it to be brought before the International Court of Justice on charges of genocide.

In the same regard, a protest took place on Friday in front of the United States Embassy in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, protesting against Washington's intervention in their country's affairs. Demonstrators chanted slogans against imperialism and expressed their "opposition to intervention in the internal affairs of Burkina Faso" in front of the embassy.

This came after Washington and London expressed "grave concern" on Monday, days after the publication of a report by Human Rights Watch accusing the Burkinabe army fighting terrorist groups of "executing at least 223 civilians, including at least 56 children, in two villages on February 25," and called on the authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation.

Protester Mohamed Wiedraogo told the French news agency at the beginning of the protest, which ended in the afternoon, "We came to deliver a message to the Americans to stop accusing our armed forces defending the country," asking, "Where are these human rights defenders when terrorists slaughter our people? What are they doing?"

Burkina Faso condemned the Human Rights Watch report on Saturday, saying it "strongly rejects and condemns such baseless accusations."

In Germany, police announced, Saturday, the dispersal of a pro-Palestine protest at Humboldt University in Berlin that demands stop the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
