News - Middle East: The chief commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has hailed President Sayyed Ebrahim Raeisi for showing “indescribable bravery” in Iran’s retaliatory operation against Israel.

Major General Hossein Salami made the remarks on Friday during the burial of IRGC Brigadier General Mehdi Mousavi in the shrine of Shah Abdolazim in the town of Shahr-e Rey, south of Tehran.

Mousavi, the head of Raeisi's security team, lost his life alongside the president and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in a helicopter crash near Iran’s northwestern border with Azerbaijan on Sunday.

“Martyr Raeisi actually demonstrated indescribable bravery in Operation True Promise,” Salami said, referring to the large-scale operation on April 13-14, during which Iran fired hundreds of drones and missiles at military bases in the Israeli-occupied territories.

“With the government’s powerful diplomacy, we were able to attack the heart of the [global] arrogance, and … Amir-Abdollahian delivered on his duty well.”

Operation True Promise came less than two weeks after Israeli warplanes bombed the consular annex of Iran’s embassy in the Syrian capital of Damascus. The terrorist Israeli strike killed 13 people, including seven IRGC military advisors.

The IRGC chief stressed that nothing has changed after the martyrdom of President Raeisi and the other officials and that Iran's authority will persist under the guidance of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

“We are not afraid of any power… The enemy has utilized all its capacities to deal a blow to Iran, but it has failed in all fields,” he said.
