The footage, released on Wednesday, identifies the missile as Hatem-2 and the targeted vessel as MSC SARAH V. The statement accompanying the video noted that this was the first time the projectile had been revealed and confirmed that "the hit was accurate."
The statement also highlighted the missile's features, such as its solid-fuel propulsion, intelligent control system, and maneuverability capability. It mentioned that Hatem-2 has several generations with different ranges, attributed to the Yemeni Military Manufacturing Authority.
Earlier, Armed Forces spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Sare'e explained that the missile targeting the Zionist vessel MSC SARAH V is a domestically-produced hypersonic missile featuring advanced technology, precise targeting capabilities, and long-range reach.
On Tuesday evening, the Yemeni Armed Forces announced that their Naval Forces executed a unique military operation targeting the Israeli vessel MSC SARAH V in the Arabian Sea. They confirmed that the operation was carried out with a new ballistic missile that had entered service following successful experimental operations, emphasizing the missile's ability to accurately hit targets over long distances.
The Armed Forces stressed their continuous development of military capabilities to support the Palestinian resistance militarily and to defend Yemen. Since October 7, when the Israeli regime began waging a genocidal war against the Gaza Strip, the Yemeni forces have staged numerous operations targeting Israeli ships or those heading towards the ports of the occupied Palestinian territories.
The Israeli war has so far claimed the lives of more than 37,700 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured over 86,300 others. The Yemeni forces have vowed to continue their strikes as long as the Israeli regime sustains its brutal military onslaught and simultaneous siege against Gaza.
Wednesday’s video is not the first time the forces have revealed the deployment of new projectiles and other military hardware in their ongoing anti-Israeli operations since October. Last Friday, June 21, the Military Media released footage of the Yemeni-made unmanned boat Toofan-1, which boasts significant combat capabilities and is a notable addition to enhancing naval forces.
The Toofan-1 boat can carry a 150-kilogram warhead, allowing it to cause massive destruction to enemy maritime targets. It can reach speeds of up to 35 nautical miles per hour, enabling it to quickly and accurately reach its targets. Its high maneuverability makes it difficult for enemies to detect and intercept.
The Toofan-1 boat is particularly used to target nearby maritime objectives, whether stationary or moving. It can also be employed in other combat missions, such as attacking warships and enemy naval installations.
The Toofan-1 boat represents a qualitative step in local weapon manufacturing, showcasing the advanced capabilities of the Naval Forces in developing sophisticated weaponry. It significantly enhances maritime capabilities and serves as a strong deterrent against any enemy attempts to aggress territorial waters.
On June 5, the Armed Forces displayed footage, for the first time, of the launch of the domestically-made ballistic missile Palestine, revealed two days earlier in an operation targeting the occupied Umm Rashrash in southern occupied Palestine. This followed the announcement two days prior by the Armed Forces of the successful strike of a military target of the Zionist enemy in the Umm Rashrash area in southern occupied Palestine.
