News - Yemen: Two citizens were killed on Wednesday by the explosion of a landmine left by the US-Saudi aggression in Hodeidah Governorate.

According to Almasirah correspondent in Hodeidah, the two citizens were killed in the explosion of a landmine in the village of Rayhan in the Al-Durayhimi District.

The National Mine Action Center revealed in its statistics that explosive remnants and ordnance caused the deaths of 52 people, including 19 children and five women, and injured 80 people, including four women and 24 children, in Al-Hudaydah Governorate in 2023.

Various regions across Yemen's governorates have been subjected to bombardment by the US-Saudi aggression using cluster bombs. Many of these internationally prohibited munitions still pose threats, scattered among farms and roads, leading to dozens of victims.

The toll of cluster bomb victims has exceeded 25,000 civilians since the onset of the US-Saudi aggression against Yemen. Landmines and remnants left by aggressive forces during their occupation continue to endanger residents, particularly in farming areas and along roads.

Official statistics indicate that nine governorates in Yemen have witnessed 2,500 cluster bomb raids, featuring destructive, phosphorous, and piercing bombs. Noteworthy mentions include US CBU-87 bombs, British BL755 bombs, and Brazilian ASTROS II bombs.
