Information Minister Denies Allegations of Safer Oil Facility Attack, Blames US-Saudi Mercenaries for Targeting Civilians

Yemen: Minister of Information Hashem Sharafuddin denied on Saturday the allegations made by the mercenaries of the American-Saudi-Emirati coalition of aggression regarding an attempt to target the Safer oil facility in Marib Governorate.

Sharafuddin affirmed that these allegations are a desperate attempt to tarnish the reputation of the National Government in Sana'a and are part of the media campaign waged by the aggression against Yemen.

The minister stated, "Since the beginning of the aggression against Yemen, the National Government has adopted a clear approach to protecting the people and their resources. Despite all the difficulties and challenges, we continue our efforts to provide the basic needs of the citizens."

Sharafuddin added that it is the mercenaries of the coalition who are responsible for destroying Yemen's infrastructure and targeting civilians, emphasizing that these criminal acts will not deter the Yemeni people from continuing their resistance.

Earlier a report said that the total amount of oil and mineral wealth looted by the US-Saudi aggression during the period from 2018 until February 2023 exceeded $10 billion, as these amounts were deposited in banks in Saudi Arabia and Emirates despite the suffering of the Yemeni people.

Former Minister of Oil and Minerals, Ahmed Daris, affirmed that the country's resources and wealth are being subjected to significant and evident tampering, looting, and wastage, despite attempts to cover it up through deliberate censorship of data and information. This once again reveals the disgraceful role played by the Saudi-mercenaries in depriving Yemenis of their rights and exacerbating their suffering with the support of the countries of aggression.

The report issued by the committee confirmed that the Saudi-backed government is practicing major corruption in the oil sector, including conducting “illegal” deals to buy oil derivatives. It indicated that the purchase takes place without bids, and that there are “ Huge differences in prices and huge imbalances in specifications.”

It noted that the pro-aggression Ministry of Oil imported quantities of fuel that “do not conform to specifications; This led to the suspension of many stations and putting them out of work.”

The report added that there is also corruption of taxes and fees on fuel shipments imported by the Saudi-backed government.
