News - Middle East: The government media office in the besieged Gaza Strip says another Palestinian journalist has been killed in an Israeli strike, taking the death toll to 174 since October 2023.

Wafa Aludaini, who worked with several English-speaking media outlets, lost her life early on Monday, when an Israeli aircraft dropped a bomb on her home in Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip.

Her husband, Munir Aludaini, and her two children, Balsam and Tamim, were also killed in the airstrike.

The Gaza media office called on the international community to hold the Israeli regime accountable for its “crimes against journalists.”

Meanwhile, the Forum of Palestinian Journalists (FPJ) paid tribute to the deceased female Palestinian journalist in a separate statement, stressing that Aludaini was actively trying to convey the Palestinian narrative to foreign media outlets.

FJP added that she devoted her life and time to shed light on the plight of the oppressed Palestinians, especially through writing English-language articles, working with international television news channels, conducting interviews with foreign activists, and holding online conferences.

“With her martyrdom, the Palestinian national media has lost a free voice full of love for Palestine and her people — who fight for freedom and self-determination,” the forum said.

Journalists operating in the Palestinian territory are faced with increased dangers as they report on the conflict amidst Israeli ground assaults and airstrikes, disrupted communications, supply shortages, and power outages.

Israel launched the war on Gaza on October 7 last year, after Palestinian resistance groups carried out a surprise retaliatory operation into the occupied territories.

So far, Israel has killed more than 41,600 Palestinians, most of them women, children, and adolescents, and injured at least 96,300 others.
