October 13 Over 9 Years: 53 Casualties in US-Saudi War Crimes on Yemen

Yemen: On October 13, during the years 2015 and 2018, the US-Saudi aggression continued to commit war crimes against humanity in Yemen. The airstrikes, targeting civilians and civilian objects in the provinces of Sa'adah and Hodeidah, involved brutal bombings and the use of internationally prohibited cluster bombs. These attacks resulted in 19 martyrs and 34 injured, including children and women, and also targeted travelers, displaced persons, homes, and farms, leading to waves of displacement, grief, and renewed suffering.

2015: Aggression Targets Homes and Farms in Sa'adah with Airstrikes and Cluster Bombs

On this day, October 13, 2015, US-Saudi aggression committed two different war crimes in Sa'adah province. It targeted a civilian's house in the Saqin district with brutal airstrikes and bombarded several farms in Sahar district with internationally banned cluster bombs. These attacks destroyed the house, damaged neighboring homes, and devastated the farms, resulting in displacement and exacerbating the suffering of local residents.

In Saqin, the airstrikes completely destroyed a house in the Shurf al-Karb area, damaged nearby homes and properties, and deepened the anguish of the local population.

Before the aggression, the village's residents, like all Yemenis, were enjoying peace in their homes, where they had memories, dreams, and ambitions. Some had just finished building new homes or lived in historic ones. The aggression's airstrikes turned these homes into mass graves, targeting them with deadly bombs while families were sleeping, eating, or going about their daily lives.

In Sahar district, the aggression committed another crime, bombing farms with cluster bombs, turning once fertile fields into deadly minefields, endangering the lives of farmers, their workers, and children. These farms, once a source of livelihood, became a source of terror and destruction.

The two attacks resulted in the displacement of many families and the destruction of their livelihoods. Farmers lost their only source of income, and the displaced lived in constant fear of continued bombing.

2018: 53 Martyrs and Injured in Aggression's Brutal War Crime Against Displaced Civilians in Hodeidah

On October 13, 2018, US-Saudi aggression committed a massacre and war crime against displaced civilians in Hodeidah. The airstrikes targeted vehicles transporting displaced people in the Al-Masiriyah area of Jabal Ras district. These strikes killed 19 people and injured 34, mostly women and children, deepening the sorrow and fear of the local population.

This tragic event turned a journey of hope into a bloody massacre, as the displaced families, fleeing the horrors of war, were hunted down and struck by the aggression's airstrikes. The massacre left behind torn bodies, burnt-out cars, and traumatized survivors, revealing the brutality of the aggression against innocent civilians.

These crimes, along with many others, demonstrate the ongoing suffering of the Yemeni people due to the continued aggression and blockade. Despite nine years of atrocities, the international community has failed to act to stop the aggression or bring the war criminals to justice.
