News - Yemen: Lebanese writer and political analyst Waseem Bazi emphasized Yemen’s pivotal and enduring role in supporting Gaza, particularly following the Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.

Bazi noted that despite enduring a decade-long US-Saudi aggression and blockade, Yemen has played a crucial role in the resistance effort. He highlighted Yemen's significant presence in the battle, describing it as one of the major surprises that reshaped the strategic dynamics of the conflict.

In an interview with Arab Journal, Bazi remarked that Yemen’s actions extended beyond shutting down the Port of Eilat and disrupting a critical lifeline for the Israeli entity. The Yemeni blockade carried strategic implications, targeting key supply chains relied upon by Israel from the Asian region via the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

He further explained how Yemen’s defiance intensified, particularly after thwarting operations like Guardian of Prosperity and Aspides. These successes forced the US and Britain into unprecedented naval confrontations with Yemen in the Red Sea, Arabian Sea, Bab al-Mandab Strait, and the Indian Ocean.

Bazi praised Yemen’s resilient will and innovative use of missile and naval capabilities, which compelled the retreat of powerful American aircraft carriers and advanced British, German, Dutch, and French warships. He highlighted how months of Yemeni resistance—utilizing drones and missiles—effectively challenged and neutralized some of the world’s most sophisticated military assets.

According to Bazi, Yemen’s maritime operations have revolutionized modern military strategy. Their success exposed vulnerabilities in destroyers, aircraft carriers, and other advanced weaponry, making them appear inadequate when faced with the determination and faith of the Yemeni people.

Yemen has declared open support for Palestine’s struggle against the Israeli occupation since the regime launched a devastating war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, after the territory’s Palestinian resistance movements carried out Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity.

The Yemeni Armed Forces have achieved significant victories against the naval forces of the US, the UK, and Israel. These operations led to the effective shutdown of the Port of Eilat, also known as Um Rashrash, and forced the US aircraft carriers Eisenhower and Roosevelt to retreat from the Red Sea. The Yemeni forces also sank or damaged dozens of Israeli-linked ships.

These achievements have surprised many observers, as Yemen was not previously regarded as a significant naval power. The Yemeni Armed Forces have vowed to continue their operations as long as the Israeli regime maintains its war and siege against Palestinian territories.

So far, Israel has killed at least over 44,382 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured over 105,142 others in Gaza.
