Movements of Takfiri Organizations in Syria and Israel's Illusion of Changing the Middle East

Middle East: The recent events in Syria, where forces affiliated with Takfiri organizations took control of Aleppo and resumed their dubious actions against the Syrian Arab Army after a long pause of over nine years, demand attention. These actions, especially at such a sensitive time for the Arab and Islamic nations, could lead to unforeseen consequences if not met with the proper response.

This movement is rightly described as suspicious and raises doubts, as it comes at a time when the free forces of the Resistance Axis are standing side by side in an open confrontation with the Israeli enemy. These forces are actively supporting Gaza and resisting the Israeli occupation on multiple fronts in Yemen, Iraq, Lebanon, and Iran.

Wouldn’t it have been more appropriate for these Takfiri organizations, which outwardly claim adherence to Islam and the Sunni sect, to turn their efforts toward Palestine to support their brothers in Gaza, rather than working to overthrow the Syrian regime—one that is aligned with the Resistance Axis and often subjected to unjust Israeli attacks?

True Objective of the Takfiri Movements in Syria

Based on the situation and available facts, this move is undoubtedly supportive of the Israeli enemy. It is an intentional and deliberate action aimed at destabilizing the Resistance Axis, particularly at a time when resistance forces are engaging in a critical battle with Israel. This Takfiri movement follows the agendas of Arab regimes that have normalized relations with Israel, such as the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan, who have historically supported such movements and even worked to undermine the Yemeni naval blockade on Israel.

These same regimes were instrumental in the creation of Takfiri organizations when the geopolitical turmoil hit Syria in 2011, which has led to the formation of many groups that carry destructive ideologies. These groups, though claiming to follow the Sunni methodology, have been actively undermining the interests of both Sunni and Shia Muslims, especially in Lebanon, all while refusing to acknowledge Palestinian or Shia resistance efforts.

What Comes After the Takfiri Movements in Syria?

It’s not far-fetched to assume that these Takfiri movements are not confined to Syria but are also active in Yemen and Iraq. While they may carry different names in each country, their actions are aligned—aimed at fragmenting and distracting the population from the central cause: Palestine.

According to Israeli and American plans, the objective of changing the Middle East involves dismantling the Resistance Axis in Yemen and Iraq. The conflict, backed by US and Israeli forces, shows no differentiation between Sunnis and Shias in their genocidal actions against Muslims. This war could escalate into even more deceptive and dangerous scenarios, presenting Israel with new tools that disregard both land and people.

The free forces in Syria and Iraq must remain vigilant and develop new military and security strategies to prevent further escalation, keeping an eye on the ongoing events in Syria.

Netanyahu’s Illusion

Shalom Libner, a former Israeli official, warned in an article in Foreign Affairs that Netanyahu’s assumptions about what can be achieved through military power are dangerously exaggerated. He emphasized that groups like Hezbollah, Hamas, and Ansar Allah have shown resilience and are organizing their ranks again, with significant firepower still at their disposal.

Even when these groups fail to bypass Israel’s air defense systems, they are still capable of causing chaos, forcing most Israelis into shelters and disrupting their daily lives. Thus, Netanyahu’s fantasies about the defeat and surrender of these factions are unrealistic, reinforcing the notion that his dreams of changing the face of the Middle East are nothing more than illusions.
