News - Yemen: The Air Defenses of the Yemeni Armed Forces have successfully downed an American MQ-9 drone while it was carrying out hostile missions over Marib Governorate.

The Yemeni Armed Forces confirmed on Wednesday that the drone was brought down by a locally-made surface-to-air missile.

"This marks the second American drone to be downed within 72 hours and the 14th overall during the ongoing Battle of the Promised Conquest and the Holy Jihad in support of Gaza," Armed Forces spokesman Yahya Sare'e stated.

The Yemeni Armed Forces further affirmed their commitment to countering all enemy attempts to undermine the sovereignty of Yemen and reiterated that their operations in support of Gaza will continue. 

"These operations will only stop once the aggression on Gaza ends and the siege is lifted," Sare'e added.

The Yemeni Air Defense had downed an American MQ-9 drone on Saturday, while it was conducting hostile missions over Al-Baidha Governorate.

Reapers, which cost around $30 million apiece, can fly at altitudes up to 50,000 feet (15,240 meters) and have an endurance of up to 24 hours before needing to land. The aircraft has been flown by both the US military and the CIA over Yemen for years.

Yemenis have declared their open support for Palestine’s struggle against the Israeli occupation since the regime launched its brutal Gaza onslaught on October 7, 2023, killing almost 45,500 Palestinians to date. 

Yemenis have hit targets throughout the occupied territories, in addition to firing at Israeli ships or vessels heading to or departing Israeli ports, in the southern Red Sea, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, the Gulf of Aden, and even in the Arabian Sea. 

Despite hundreds of attacks from the UK, US, and Israel, Yemen remains committed to supporting Palestinian resistance, repeatedly vowing to continue operations until Israel’s Gaza onslaught ceases.
