Turkish-Israeli Maritime Trade Surges Despite Ankara’s Official Boycott Claims

News - Middle East: Sources in maritime navigation have revealed a striking paradox, showing commercial shipping between Turkish ports and the port of occupied Palestine continues and is even increasing, despite Ankara's repeated announcements of cutting trade ties with the Israeli occupation entity.

According to the sources, speaking to Almasirah, the volume of maritime shipments from Turkey to "Israel" witnessed a notable rise during the period of aggression on Gaza.

The sources pointed out that Turkish trade activity with "Israel" increased particularly between May 3 and December 7, 2024, a timeframe during which Ankara officially declared a halt to commercial relations with the Israeli entity.

Information from its maritime sources indicates that the shipping route from Turkey to "Israel" traverses the Mediterranean Sea, passing through Egyptian waters, before reaching the Israeli ports of Haifa and Ashdod.

Statistics compiled by the maritime sources show that the maritime trade volume between the two countries not only persisted but intensified. Over 340 maritime shipping trips were recorded, involving 108 ships that sailed from Turkish ports to Israeli ports during the period from May to December 2024.

The data highlights a variety of goods transported aboard these ships, including oil, chemicals, vehicles of various types, construction materials, and other essential commodities.

Further breakdown of ship types and their cargo reveals the following:
36 container ships transported 148 container shipments to "Israel" during the mentioned period.
30 general cargo ships conducted 66 trips to "Israel" within the same timeframe.
Oil and chemical tankers completed 48 trips using 25 ships from Turkey to "Israel" between May and December 2024.
Six vehicle and roll-on/roll-off (RORO) ships carried out 61 trips from Turkey to "Israel" during this period.
Basic commodity carriers numbered 11 ships, making 19 trips from Turkish ports to "Israel" between May and December 2024.

Since Israel began its devastating war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, Yemen has openly expressed support for Palestine’s resistance against the Israeli occupation. The ongoing aggression in Gaza has claimed the lives of at least 45,436 Palestinians, mostly women and children.

In addition to missile strikes, Yemen has also targeted ships linked to Israel, the United States, and the United Kingdom, aiming to force an end to the Tel Aviv regime’s genocidal war on Gaza.

The Yemeni Armed Forces have vowed to continue their attacks until Israel halts its ground and aerial offensives in Gaza.
