News - Yemen: With the presence of Yemen's Grand Mufti, Shamsuddin Sharafuddin, Al-Noor Center for the Blind held a commemoration event marking the 9th anniversary of the US-Saudi aggression bombing of the center.

"The 9th anniversary of the crime committed against the blind reminds us of the same enemy bombing Gaza today," the Grand Mufti stated in his speech. He emphasized the resilience of the Yemeni people in facing American, Israeli, and British aggression, attributing their steadfastness to the values of Prophethood they uphold.

"We will face reactions from the Americans and Israelis to our military operations, and we must remain steadfast regardless of their scale," he added.

The director of Al-Noor Center, Hassan Ismail, recalled the tragedy: "On this day, we were struck by a calamity that time cannot erase, and we still suffer from its psychological, social, and material impacts. Yet, we have overcome some of the effects and regained our ability to continue supporting and rehabilitating the blind."

Sabah Huraish, director of Al-Aman Association for Blind Women, noted, "Al-Noor is a great educational institution. Many graduates have gone on to contribute across various fields."

The event served as a reminder to the international community of the heinous crime committed by the coalition on the night of January 5, 2016, when multiple airstrikes targeted the center, which housed over 100 blind children. The attack is regarded as a war crime and a stain on the perpetrators.

Saudi Arabia, backed by the United States and regional allies, launched the war on Yemen in March 2015, claiming the goal of bringing the government of former Yemeni president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi back to power.

The US-Saudi aggression targeted neighborhoods and populated areas and destroyed the infrastructure and capabilities of the country, in light of a suspicious international silence.

The war has left hundreds of thousands of Yemenis dead and displaced millions more. It has also destroyed Yemen’s infrastructure and spread famine and infectious diseases there.
