Media sources reported that leaders of the Transitional Council looted fuel from the Petro-Messila power station, also known as the "president's station," causing a complete power outage and plunging Aden into darkness.
The sources explained that this outage adds to the ongoing suffering of residents in the occupied governorates, especially in Aden, due to the continuous power cuts that leave homes without electricity for long hours. The Saudi-backed government has ignored the problem and failed to find a permanent solution to repair the power grid.
The city of Aden, a key stronghold for the Saudi-backed government, has been grappling with a prolonged decline in essential public services, particularly in electricity. Despite being home to five power generation stations, residents have faced persistent power outages, especially during the scorching summer months, intensifying their daily struggles.
This power crisis has sparked growing anger and frustration among residents, who are increasingly dissatisfied with the inability of the Saudi-backed government to provide consistent and reliable services, including electricity. The lack of adequate fuel supplies to operate power plants has exacerbated the suffering, especially in the southern and eastern provinces, where the public has been left to cope with the heat and economic hardships. This failure of governance is feared to ignite widespread protests, further destabilizing a region already teetering on the brink of famine.
The recent theft of fuel from the Petro-Messila power station by forces aligned with the UAE-backed Transitional Council has only worsened the situation, plunging Aden into further darkness. This incident highlights the lack of accountability and the deterioration of infrastructure, leaving the people of Aden to endure even harsher conditions as the cycle of neglect and mismanagement continues.
