Jan. 15 Over 9 Years: 98 Casualties in War Crimes and Genocide Committed by US-Saudi Aggression on Yemen

Yemen: On January 15, over the years 2016 and 2017, the US-Saudi aggression continued its war crimes and genocide against Yemen. Airstrikes targeting civilians, homes, businesses, medical centers, and civilian infrastructure in various areas of Sa'adah province resulted in 53 martyrs and 45 injured, mostly women and children. The attacks destroyed entire neighborhoods, shops, a medical center, and other vital infrastructure, further exacerbating the human suffering and violations of international law.

2016: War Crimes in Sa'adah

On January 15, 2016, the US-Saudi aggression committed war crimes and genocide by targeting residential areas in Dhahyan city and a medical center and shops in Saqeen district. This led to two brutal massacres, resulting in 53 martyrs, mostly women and children, and 45 injured.

Dhahyan Massacre: A bombing raid targeted a densely populated neighborhood in Dhahyan city, killing 50 people, including 13 children and 12 women, and injuring 40 others. The area turned into a mass grave, with families torn apart, homes destroyed, and the community traumatized. Eyewitnesses describe horrific scenes of death and suffering.

Saqeen: In Saqeen, the US-Saudi forces targeted the Life Medical Center and commercial shops, killing eight people and injuring five, causing significant destruction. The destruction of health and commercial infrastructure further exacerbated the suffering of the local population.

These crimes have left long-lasting effects on the lives of the people in Saada, with families losing their homes, livelihoods, and loved ones. The ongoing attacks continue to undermine the basic rights and dignity of the Yemeni people.

2017: Continued War Crimes and Targeting of Vital Infrastructure

The US-Saudi aggression continued its atrocities in Sa'adah on January 15, 2017, by targeting vital infrastructure, including chicken farms and bridges. This led to destruction, loss of livelihoods, and isolation of rural areas.

Al-Safra: A bombing raid destroyed chicken farms, killing many poultry and depriving the local population of an important source of income. The attack targeted civilians and agriculture, further deepening the humanitarian crisis.

Baqim: A bombing raid destroyed a vital bridge in Yaseem area, cutting off access between several districts and making it harder to deliver aid and supplies. The destruction of infrastructure has made life even more difficult for the people of Sa'adah.

These crimes highlight the ongoing efforts by the US-Saudi forces to destroy Yemen’s economy and harm its civilians, while the international community remains silent.
