Aviation officials: US-Saudi Aggression Continues to Obstruct Opening New Destinations Through Sana'a Int. Airport

News - Yemen: The Undersecretary of Civil Aviation and Meteorology, Raed Jabal, confirmed that the Saudi-led coalition is working directly to obstruct the opening of new destinations through Sana'a International Airport, which will result in prolonging the suffering of the Yemeni people in general and patients seeking treatment abroad in particular.

Jabal said in a press statement, Monday, that Saudi Arabia and its tools continue to procrastinate on opening new destinations that would contribute to alleviating the suffering of patients.

He pointed out that flights to Cairo are still closed, and it is dependent on the approval of Riyadh. He pointed out that opening a destination to India is subject to the approval of the coalition as well .

Jabal, stated that the coalition and its tools refused to add any flights to Jordan, except for the three weekly flights, which do not even meet minimum needs.

The representative of the Civil Aviation Authority held the coalition and its tools responsible for continuing to impose an unjustified ban on Sana'a airport in front of all civil airlines, and for refusing to operate flights to all destinations as a legal right of the Yemeni people.

Earlier, Sana'a had received communications from four Arab airlines that expressed their desire to resume commercial flights from Sana'a International Airport to various Arab and Asian destinations, sources close to the Salvation Government revealed on Tuesday.

According to the Lebanese Al-Akhbar newspaper, the sources indicated that the government is awaiting the implementation of more confidence-building steps in the coming days, especially with regard to the payment of employee salaries, the release of prisoners, and the opening of crossings and roads between the governorates.

The newspaper quoted informed diplomatic sources as saying that it is possible that these steps will slow down due to Washington's continued negative influence on the progress of the negotiations.

In this regard, the Deputy Prime Minister for Defense and Security Affairs Jalal Al-Ruwaishan said that Sana'a "did not perceive clear seriousness in separating the Saudi position from the American desire." He stressed that “this indecision will not lead to a result,” accusing the US-Saudi aggression of “returning to using the humanitarian aspect as a negotiating card to obtain political gains.”

In the same regard, Al-Emarat Al-Youm newspaper reported that “the coalition has set new conditions for the payment of salaries,” which Sana’a rejected as an attempt to link humanitarian aspects with military ones.

The newspaper indicated that there were disagreements over the guarantees, in reference to Sana'a's refusal to claim Riyadh for a buffer zone on the border.

Meanwhile, with the return of the US, European, and UN movement, Russia has re-entered the line of negotiations for a solution.

It stressed the need to intensify efforts to ensure a sustainable ceasefire, and to launch a comprehensive national dialogue under the auspices of the United Nations.

The Russian embassy in Yemen said that the special Representative of the Russian president, Mikhail Bogdanov, discussed, during his meeting with the UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, issues of a comprehensive settlement.

She indicated that the latter was briefed on the Russian side's contacts with representatives of various Yemeni political forces and countries involved in aggression within the framework of promoting the normalization of the situation in Yemen, including solving the accumulated social, economic and humanitarian problems.
