Speaking to Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq Al Said over the phone on Wednesday, President Raeisi slammed “brutal crimes” of the Israeli regime against “defenseless fasting Palestinian people.”
“There is no doubt that the cooperation, solidarity, and consensus among Muslim countries will be effective in deterring the aggression of the Zionists and realizing the legal rights of the Palestinian nation,” Raeisi said.
The remarks come as the Israeli regime forces have in recent months ramped up ferocious attacks on Palestinian towns and cities throughout the occupied territories.
As a result of these attacks, dozens of Palestinians have lost their lives and many others have been arrested during raids that have focused mostly on the occupied West Bank.
The attacks have seen an alarming surge during the fasting month of Ramadan this year with Israeli forces launching violent assaults against al-Aqsa Mosque, Islam’s third holiest site, in the occupied city of al-Quds, and arresting worshippers during prayers.
The Israeli forces beat and arrested dozens of defenseless Palestinian worshippers during the raids that drew strong condemnation from Muslim countries across the globe.
Observers believe the rise of the new Muslim alliance in the region can help boost the front against the Israeli occupiers.
The Sultan of Oman also condemned the desecration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque during his conversation with the Iranian president, noting that Muscat will keep its stance on the Palestinian issue until the rights of Palestinians are restored.
The two leaders also exchanged greetings on the arrival of Eid al-Fitr, a festival that marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.
Meanwhile, the top officials reviewed the status of the two countries' bilateral cooperation, emphasizing the need to implement prior agreements in various fields.
President Raeisi had earlier held separate talks with officials of several Muslim countries to discuss the Palestinian issue.
Pertinently, Oman has led the efforts to forge unity and closer cooperation between countries in the region, playing a key role in brokering a peace deal between Tehran and Riyadh as well as ongoing tension-easing talks between Tehran and Manama.
