Yemen: The pro-aggression government imposed new economic policies and measures to deepen the humanitarian crisis and double the burdens on the Yemeni People, who have been under siege and aggression for more than eight years.

In the midst of the popular movements denouncing the collapse of the currency and the rise in food commodity prices, the pro-aggression government decided to raise the price of the customs dollar in the port of Aden for the third time. It is a step that would exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in the provinces that are being attacked by foreign ambitions and the conflicting interests of mercenary entities and their armed formations.

Media sources close to the forces of aggression indicated that directives were issued to raise the exchange rates of the customs dollar to 1386 Yemeni riyals. Dealers in the port of Aden said that work on these procedures had actually started on Sunday.

This absurd measure is the third of its kind since 2021, when the pro-aggression government raised the customs dollar price from 250 to 500. Last January, it decided to raise it to 750 riyals before approving the new tariff, which is twice the previous tariff.

The private sector in Aden, in turn, warned of a greater collapse of the economic situation than what is happening today, with the absence of a state or government to deal with the economic situation in the occupied territories. It explained that the largest sector of merchants left Aden and moved their activities to the port of Hodeidah, due to the presence of a suitable economy there.

This fact does not appeal to the mercenary leaders who are mired in the mire of corruption and plundering public money, as they demand the Saudis and Americans to return to tighten the siege measures on the port of Hodeidah. This is to force merchants to go to the port of Aden and submit to the new tariff price. It is an attempt to curb the inevitable economic collapse in the places of their control. The fact that the mercenaries chose this option shows that the countries involved in aggression have turned their backs on them.

Such measures are not spur of the moment, but they come within a series of financial policies that the aggression adopts as a means of its economic war imposed on the Yemeni People. Starting from transferring the functions of the Central Bank, cutting salaries, and supplying wealth returns to the banks of aggression. In light of the rejection of all solutions that would alleviate the suffering and address the crises in all Yemeni governorates.
